You may have most of the software you need to create great websites, but when it comes to gaming, the options are somewhat limited.
In this article you’ll find out about some of my current favorites for playing games on your computer. They range from the most basic free apps to some of the most advanced, so no one will be left out.

This video gaming tool is an excellent find for anyone who loves recording gameplay.
OBS Studio provides a powerful API, that enables various plugins to customize videos according to your needs.
It has a user-friendly interface. If you want to be a bit professional in your videos, you can add webcam footage as well as graphics or images.
So, if you plan to start a new Youtube game channel, this might be the go-to freeware.
Flawless Widescreen (Ultra widescreen for games)
This Gaming PC software makes your screen wider than before
You might have come across some games that do not support widescreen and black bars at sides. There’s no more frustration than this.
Flawless widescreen is the solution for this. It helps games to work with widescreen without compromising the quality.
But the only limitation that I could find is that not every game is supported.
WinDirStat
WinDerStat is another program that deals with storage. However, unlike GameSave Manager which was our previously covered point, this program aids with the help of deciding just what to get rid of on your computer. Video games are only getting more advanced and after a new release hits the market, you’ll likely have to check just how much storage space is required to play the game.
Games are continuously getting bigger so if you’re not interested in picking up a bigger drive to store the video game titles or if the funds won’t allow it then you’ll be left on deciding just what to purge. WinDirStat is a great way to see the content stored on your drives. Not only does this program will showcase the usual graphical statistics of storage availability, but it will also give a more visually appealing way to see how much a program is taking up space.
With an additional panel window open, the program will unveil a series of different colored and sized rectangles. The bigger the size the larger the file is on your hard drive. This is a user-friendly way of showing just how much cushion room a program or file takes up and that can likely greatly help when it comes to clearing out space for a new game install.
Groupy (Organize your work with Groupy)
Organization tool
Groupy is the first paid software on our list so far.
Groupy allows you to keep your workspace organized by grouping various windows into a single one, just like the browser tabs.
It has an easy to use interface, and the drag and drop feature of Groupy allows you to tab various documents for easy access and reference.
As far as price is concerned, it will cost you around $5.
Groupy offers a 30-day free trial, which you can try and see whether it is worth putting your money on or not.
Adobe Creative Cloud for PC (Photo editing software)
The gold standard for photo editing
Whenever we speak of photo editing, adobe is the one name that comes instantly to our mind.
Adobe is one of the gold standards when it comes to photo editing.
It is used by numerous professionals worldwide and continues to dominate the market with its most used software such as photoshop, premier, illustrator, and a lot more.
It can turn out to be expensive for some individuals. There are some free alternatives for those individuals in GIMP and Paint.net, but these are less user-friendly and not that professional as photoshop.
The price of the software depends upon the type of service you want and can vary accordingly.
IObit Uninstaller
Unlike consoles, uninstalling programs can be a bit of a task for PC platforms. There are several downloads that have leftover files or content that is tucked away on the PC. If you have downloading programs or add-ons then instead of hunting down everything related to that program on your PC you can use IObit uninstaller. This software is able to take out any unwanted software with one click and it will then remove everything attached to it. It’s a simple program but extremely useful especially after a few years of playing around on your gaming PC.
Malwarebytes
Owning a gaming PC should come with some software that will ensure you’re running safely. Whether you accidentally download a program or software unknowingly or happen to pick something up from a website, it’s good to make sure your PC is free from any viruses. There are all kinds of different virus protectors out there so it may come down to preference or whichever one you feel most comfortable with. For our recommendations, having something like a free version of Malwarebytes could become quite useful. With this software, you can scan your PC and make sure there are no viruses, malware, ransomware, or any other threats that may infect your PC and prevent you from getting the most of your gaming PC.
Origin
Outside of Steam which we made mention in our intro paragraph, there are other digital distribution storefronts such as Origin. This service us owned by Electronic Arts and its become a must own if you wish to purchase and enjoy select video game titles such as the more recent release, A Way Out. Chances are most of these games won’t find its way outside of Origin if you’re looking to enjoy the game on the PC platform and as a result, you’ll want to make sure this Origin program is downloaded to your gaming desktop. Again this is just another storefront outside of Steam and you’ll find several other programs out there that offer a similar experience.
9. Piriform CCleaner
Clean out junk files to free up space, and suspend resource-hungry programs
Whether you realize it or not, your gaming PC or laptop is full of files and various bits of digital detritus you simply don’t need. All those extra bits and bobs take up valuable space, and that means said PC is going to run slower and slower as time goes by. Not the kind of situation you want with a gaming–dedicated rig. The solution: a proper cleaning utility like Piriform CCleaner.Advertisement
It can delete temporary files and broken Windows registry entries automatically, and identify software your system doesn’t need. There is a caveat, though: CCleaner is very powerful, so make sure you check its settings before turning it loose on your machine to avoid accidentally deleting anything you’d rather hang onto (saved passwords in your web browser, for example). Still, CCleaner is an excellent free app for your new gaming PC.
Iolo System Mechanic
Analyze and optimize your PC for a noticeable performance boost
Another great option for cleaning up and optimizing your Windows PC is Iolo System Mechanic. There isn’t much benefit in running both, but this would be our preference if you’re not too confident tinkering with software settings yourself and would prefer a wizard-based program to make the decisions for you.
You’ll need to invest in the premium version of System Mechanic if you want extra tools like real-time optimization, but for clearing out the cruft from your system without the worry that you might accidentally delete something important, the free edition is hard to beat.
MSI Afterburner (Gaming PC software that allows you to tweak your GPU Settings)
A GPU performance enhancer
MSI Afterburner is not new in the GPU performance area; it has been part of the GPU overclocking landscape for quite some time.
A freeware tool that allows you to access your graphic card settings.
What it does is that it increases the GPU’s clock frequency and voltage, and the fan speed control feature provides excellent performance without heating your PC much.
It has an easy to use interface with sliders on the left and a few aesthetic addons with monitoring on the right.
